As the lord of our island prepared us for the raid, I rushed back to the house. I grabbed my shortsword, my helmet, my crossbow, my shield, and gauntlet from my room. When I put on the spiked shoulder pads, my wife called, “Honey, they’re already starting to leave. You could just stay behind and pretend to leave!” I shout back, “Never! I won’t be a coward, much less a deserter.
